Part-Time Community Organizer Position in Springfield, IL Region

Description

Faith Coalition for the Common Good seeks to fill a part time organizing position with an ambitious and hard-working Community Organizer who will be responsible for helping to expand a powerful faith and value-based organization in the Springfield, IL region. The job will begin as a part-time position and may potentially turn into a full time position.

We seek someone with experience working with communities, who has self-confidence in working in diverse environments; who seeks the opportunity to engage in social justice work; is committed to the development of community leadership; and, has a history of working well with others.

The Faith Coalition is an institutionally based network of congregations, labor unions and organizations committed to building community and seeking justice and equity.

Our mission is to work collaboratively for racial equity, civic engagement, a fair economy and participatory decision making. The Faith Coalition trains ordinary people to become leaders in their community and impact laws, policies and procedures. We transform institutions and their members to build the power to address issues most affecting them, like jobs, transportation, affordable housing and immigration reform.

Compensation:

The salary is competitive and based on experience. The position includes the opportunity to be trained and coached in the art of community organizing within the Gamaliel Network.
